Finding Father Christmas
A festive drama/performance history workshop for KS1 and KS2.
Our Finding Father Christmas workshop has been created for
festive fun with an educational sparkle. In this workshop your
students will get into the spirit of the season with a historical twist by exploring the origins of Father Christmas.
Our practitioners - using improvisation and drama and performance techniques - will bring to life the following moments:
Do the students have the dexterity to throw a bag of gold through a far-away window - just as St Nicholas did?
Can they use their detective abilities to mirror the skills of Saint Nick and solve the crime of the missing children?
And just why are a Norse god and Father Christmas so similar?
The students will look at the myths of the historical Saint Nicholas, searching through different cultures and eras to discover more about Father Christmas and where he came from. This special workshop is perfect for festive fun and ideal for the run up to the Christmas break.
Find out what other teachers think of our workshops:
'It wasn't what we expected without lots of artefacts, but it was a really imaginative way to do it and meant the children had more ownership.'
