Finding Father Christmas

A festive drama/performance history workshop for KS1 and KS2.

Our Finding Father Christmas workshop has been created for festive fun with an educational sparkle. In this workshop your students will get into the spirit of the season with a historical twist by exploring the origins of Father Christmas.

Using roleplay, storytelling and interactive activities, your students will look at historical figures from different cultures and eras to discover more about the legend of Father Christmas. Activities include:

  • Discovering the timeline of the legendary man himself - all the way from his time as "St. Nic" to his famous appearance in the Coca-Cola advert

  • The myths of Saint Nicholas; learning about his care and devotion for children and the beginning of Christmas traditions such as gift-giving and hanging stockings.

  • Searching history for other possible appearances of a Father Christmas figure, such as Sinterklaas in Spain and even Odin in Norse Mythology

This special workshop is perfect for festive fun and ideal for the run up to the Christmas break.
