Æthelflæd has a name that is very difficult to type on a modern keyboard.


She was also the daughter of Alfred the Great.


The historian Tom Holland argues that Æthelflæd played a vital role in the founding of England. The Lady of Mercia ultimately led the kingdom; founding cities, encouraging learning and beating up Vikings.
